HerePrice
Cookies & Data
Last updated: September 8, 2026
The short version. HerePrice sets no cookies at all — not one. We keep three small things in your browser's local storage, and we run one privacy-focused analytics service that starts only after you say yes. No ads, no ad networks, no cross-site tracking, and nothing sold to anyone.
1. Cookies, and what we use instead
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep, which is then sent back to that site's server on every single request. Cookies are what most sites use to recognise you across page loads.
HerePrice does not use them. We use local storage instead — a similar browser feature with one important difference: it is never transmitted anywhere. It is read and written only by the page you are looking at, and it never travels to our servers with your requests. We still call the banner a "cookie" banner because that is the phrase everyone recognises, but the table below is the literal truth of what is stored.
2. What is stored in your browser
| Category | Purpose | What it actually is | Required? |
|---|---|---|---|
| ⚙️ Essential | Remembers the consent choice you made, so we stop asking. | hp-consent-v1 — your yes/no per category, plus a timestamp and policy version. | Yes |
| 🎯 Preferences | Keeps your wishlist, comparison selection and recently viewed list across visits. | wishlist-v1, compare-selection-v1, recently-viewed-v1 — product identifiers, titles, thumbnails and prices. No information about you. | No |
| 📊 Analytics | Tells us which pages and features are actually useful. | Vercel Web Analytics. Cookie-free and storage-free — it writes nothing to your browser at all. | No |
| 📣 Advertising | Not used. HerePrice runs no ad network, no personalisation and no cross-site tracking. | Nothing — there is no such technology on the site, which is why the banner has no toggle for it. | — |
If you decline Preferences, the wishlist and comparison still work — they simply live in memory for the current session and are gone when you close the tab.
3. What analytics records, precisely
Only with your consent, and only in aggregate. Vercel Web Analytics records a page view per page you open, along with the referring site, your approximate country, and your device, operating system and browser type. It does not use cookies, does not write to local storage, and does not build a cross-site profile of you.
On top of page views, we record these specific product events:
- Viewing — which product page or category page was opened.
- Searching — the search text you typed, and how many results came back. Please don't type anything personal into a product search; we have no use for it and would rather not receive it.
- Comparing — when a comparison is opened or a product is added to one.
- Filtering and sorting — which brand filter or sort order was chosen.
- Expanding specifications — whether a "Show more" spec table was opened.
- Leaving for a retailer — when a "Buy on Amazon" link is clicked, and which product it was for.
That is the entire list. We do not record your name, email, IP address, precise location, payment details or any account information — HerePrice has no accounts and no login, so most of that does not exist here in the first place.
4. Third parties
- Vercel hosts HerePrice, so it processes the technical request data any web host must see, including your IP address, in order to serve the page. It also provides the analytics described above.
- Google Fonts serves our typeface. Loading a font is a request to Google's servers, governed by Google's own privacy practices. We use it only to render text.
- Amazon serves the product images you see, so your browser requests those files from Amazon's image servers. Clicking through to buy takes you to Amazon, where their policies apply.
Our own product data comes from our backend, which your browser never contacts directly — those calls are proxied through the site, so the backend does not receive your IP address. No data is sold, rented, or shared with advertisers, because there are none.
5. How long things are kept
- Your consent choice stays until you clear it or your browser data is cleared. Bumping the policy version also resets it, so you get asked again if what we do changes materially.
- Wishlist, comparison and recently viewed stay in your browser until you remove the items or clear site data. The recently viewed list holds ten products at most.
- Analytics is retained in aggregate by Vercel under their retention policy, and is never tied back to an identifiable person by us.
6. Changing or withdrawing your consent
You can change your mind at any time, and it takes effect immediately — declining analytics stops any further events being sent, and declining preferences erases what was saved.
Withdrawing consent clears the stored decision and asks you again from scratch. Analytics already loaded in the current tab stops receiving events immediately; reloading the page removes it entirely.
7. Clearing everything yourself
You can wipe all of it from your browser's settings — usually under "Privacy" or "Site settings", then search for this site and clear its data. That resets your consent choice, wishlist, comparison selection and recently viewed list. Browser features like private browsing or storage blocking are fully respected: if storage is unavailable, HerePrice keeps working and simply remembers nothing.
