How we collect prices and compare products

Everything on this site is built from prices we read from retailers ourselves. This page explains exactly how that works, how current the numbers are, and where the limits of our data lie.

Last updated: 4 November 2026

Where prices come from

We currently track four retailers:

  • Amazon — Read by ASIN directly from the product page.
  • Flipkart — Read from the product page's own structured data.
  • Croma — Read from Croma's own storefront API.
  • Reliance Digital — Read from Reliance Digital's own catalogue API.

We read the price each retailer publishes on its own page or in its own storefront API. We do not estimate prices, and we do not use a third-party price feed.

How often prices are refreshed

A scheduled job re-checks products in batches and works through the catalogue continuously. Each product is re-checked roughly weekly, and popular products more often. Because the job works in slices, some products will have been checked more recently than others — which is why every price on this site carries its own date rather than one site-wide "updated" stamp.

What the dates on a price mean

"Price checked <date>"
The last time we successfully read this price from the retailer. The price may or may not have changed on that date — it is when we looked.
"Last changed <date>"
The last time the number itself actually moved. If a price has been checked ten times and never changed, we record one change, not ten.
"Couldn't re-check this price"
Our most recent attempt failed — the retailer was unreachable, served an anti-bot page, or changed its layout. We show the last price we genuinely verified, clearly labelled, rather than hiding the product or replacing the price with a zero. A failed check never overwrites a good price.

Price accuracy

Retailers change prices without notice, run time-limited offers, and vary prices by payment method, bank offer or exchange. A price here is what we last verified, not a quote. The price shown at the retailer's checkout is the one that applies. Always confirm before you buy.

How comparisons are built

Our comparison pages are generated from product data, not written by hand, and not written by an AI model. Two products are only compared when they are in the same category, match on the attribute that defines that category (capacity for a washing machine, tonnage for an air conditioner), agree on type, and are close enough in price to be genuinely cross-shopped.

The verdict, the differences and the FAQs on a comparison page are all derived from stored specifications and verified prices. Where two products are specified identically, the page says they are closely matched rather than inventing a winner. A specification is only shown as a difference when both products state it — if we are missing a value for one side, we leave the row out rather than present our gap as a fact about the product.

Where our data has limits

  • We do not cover every retailer, and we do not claim to find the lowest price on the internet.
  • Not every product is stocked by every retailer we track, so some products show fewer offers.
  • Some prices are older than others. Each one shows its own date so you can judge it.
  • Specifications come from retailer listings and are occasionally incomplete or inconsistent between retailers.
  • We do not collect or publish user reviews or star ratings of our own. Ratings shown are the retailer's.

Affiliate disclosure

HerePrice participates in the Amazon Associates Programme and may use affiliate links for other retailers. If you buy through one of our links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This never affects the prices we show or which product a comparison recommends — recommendations are computed from price and specifications, and commission is not an input.

Corrections

If you spot a price or specification that looks wrong, tell us at hello@hereprice.com and we will re-check it.
